Off Topic: 17 MPG Motorcycle Trip

Title pretty much says it all!  Yes, I had plans for a great ride out through the mountains of Montana but alas,  I am home and hating it.  Don't know what is wrong with my bike but over a 200+ mile span I was getting about 17-20 miles per gallon on the motorcycle.  I had just had it serviced the day before...obviously they screwed something up.  It seemed to run normally but...I would usually get between 40-50 miles per gallon on this bike!!!  If anyone has any comments about it please post.  I will be taking it in otherwise.

Oh yeah, there kind of is a motorcycle helmet related topic.  While I was down looking at the motor, pretending I was a motorcycle mechanic or something, I touched my forehead on the super hot exhaust pipe!  (Genius, I know!)  So, motorcycle helmets are good for more than just crash protection, they might even prevent third degree burns!

Fatal motorcycle accident

It is really sad to see anyone perish in a vehicular accident.  A crash is especially dangerous due to the lack of a surrounding cab such as in cars and trucks.  No word on the use of helmets in this fatal crash.  Motorcycle helmets won't protect your entire body but they may save your life.  Hot Motorcycle Helmets sends it's thoughts and prayers to those involved.

News articles and Motorcycle Helmets

Maybe it is just us, but looking around the web we have found that a lot of news articles don't talk about wether or not the people involved in motorcycle crashes were wearing a helmet.  I wonder why this is!?  I would think that the public would want to know if a person recieved fewer injuries or less severe ones by wearing a helmet.

If anyone has a better chance of finding articles than we do that show the use of motorcycle helmets we would be interested in knowing.  Leave us a comment.

Why buy a full face helmet?

Full face motorcycle helmets offer the most protection to the rider.  Studies have shown that 35% of all crashes showed major impact on the chin-bar area.  A full face helmet covers the entire head, with a rear that covers the base of the skull, and a protective section over the front of the chin.  These motorcycle helmets have an open cutout in a band across the eyes and nose, with a plastic face shield that generally swivels up and down to allow access to the face.  Most full face motorcycle helmets include vents to increase airflow and rider comfort.
